What is A Subject Prerequisite?
While enrolling yourself in further education you will come across this term “Subject Prerequisite” quite often. So, what does it mean?
In simple terms, it refers to a specific subject you need to have completed before you can take the following course / programme / subject.
This is because the course in question tends to teach even more advanced concepts of those prerequisite subjects and if a student did not have the fundamentals prior to joining, they would find it tough to keep up.
For example:
To get into Medicine (NUS), you will need a “Year 12 or higher-level pass in Chemistry and Biology or Physics”.
This means that you need to have studied Chemistry and at least Biology or Physics in JC. If you did not, chances are you will not be able to get into the Medicine course.
However, when they say a pass is required – that is the minimum benchmark. However, as strong competition for popular courses will show, no less than the best of grades will help you secure a spot in your coveted course.
Aerospace Engineering and most Engineering courses
